Regional Roaming Festival of Traditional Crafts "The Masters of Uykoal Land"

Kamchatka land is famous for its masters of folk crafts who not only create unique works but strive to maintain the technology of production used by their ancestors for centuries in their pieces of art.

The first regional festival of traditional crafts of indigenous small-numbered people of Kamchatka region "The Masters of Uykoal Land" took place at the territory of the ethno-cultural center "Menadeck", the reconstructed Evensk nomadic camp located near the village of Anavgay in Central Kamchatka.

In 2014 the festival of masters will move to the capital of the region and will be held in the form of "The City of Masters".

Within the frames of the festival theatrical opening of the celebration is planned as well as demonstration of national costumes, creative laboratories and master classes where the best craftsmen will tell about their products and demonstrate the production technics.

Spectators may take part in the unique lessons on grass weaving, artistic carving on bone and horn, birch bark weaving, making of national clothing, producing tambourines, beadwork.
